Double Page Spread Analysis

 Kerrang  "Heroes Return"
I adore this double page spread. The first thing I like about it is the picture. This picture links to the title "Heroes Return" because it depicts them flying through space (almost). The way their hands reach out to the camera makes them bigger, and most importantly one of the first things you see on the page. The whole two pages have a colour scheme of green, white and black which actually looks very attractive. I love how the white title stands out and that the "Heroes" is cut out to reveal the background, with the "Return" being in solid white. This looks amazing and creative. It also links to the story of Matthew Leone making his way to recovery from an attack. It suggests that they are obviously popular within this music genre if they are "Heroes". The information is organised into two columns on the very right of the two pages, which looks neat and it suggests that you're getting  your money's  worth of information. The quote on the very left gives you a taster on what your about to read. It says "If I sneezed it could have killed me..." You cannot get any more exciting than that. This reels the reader in to read the whole article. There is a box labelled "Comeback Kids", and the fact they've put it in a box makes it look smart and the white background of it grabs the readers eye to read that as well as the article.

MixMag "Riddim Is A Dancer"
This double page spread could come accross as having a theme of "danger". The colour scheme of yellow and black could be linked to the toxic waste symbol, with the yellow background and the 3 segments or the sign "Danger Hazardous Waste". When you think of danger, you don't associate it with calm and smart, you think of busy and "all over the place" as it were. This is what they've done with the collection of pictures in the middle, they make it look busy. Having said that, the columns either side of the pictures are positioned so that you can still get all the information out of it whilst enjoying the page's pictures and bright colours.  Also, clubs are always busy, and that's what it's showing in the pictures, lots of people dancing. The language is intense, and the audience is obviously for people who are very educated in the world of clubbing, as the opening sentence starts like this: "The Extremely Capable sound system in the basement of East Village is being drowned out by a piercing blaze of whistles and horns."
